BMW X1 Crossover Pics

In October at the Paris Motor Show BMW will introduce a number of premieres, including the new crossover X1.

BMW is expanding its presence in the luxury crossover segment, which has long been taken over by "mature" X3, X5 and X6 models.

Size wise car will compete with such staples of SUVs as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

Exterior of the car reminds his "older brother" BMW X6 and some of the BMW CS concept, which is why when viewed from front X1 seems larger than it actually is.

Brutal radiator grille, an impressive front bumper and headlights "browes" add some boldness.

The new crossover is based on the first and third models of BMW. The car will come with full all wheel drive X-drive. Ground clearance will be increased.

Engine line up ranges from 1.8 liters 145 hp 4-cylinder to 3 liters 6-cylinder turbo diesel. Comes with choice of six speed mechanical and automatic gearbox. Production of the new crossover will begin at the Leipzig plant next summers. It is planned to produce 100,000 crossovers a year.
